Yogyakarta-- Alliance Students of Papua, Yogyakarta
Commettee, Zero km, Malioboro, Yogyakarta, place where crowded gathered
on Saturday evening.
The event was, where the Kopassus of Republic Indonesia assinated,
West Papuans leader, Ondofolo Theys Hiyo Eluay November 10, 2001 last
year.
After sun gone to the west, covering with night, all the students and
the people of Papua moving under the coordination of Alliance Students
of Papua at 18.00 p.m. AMP was about to start,however some p

Police officer said, showing film of Human Right Violations in Papua
will disturb the people and it is not appropriate to show in the public
because the video will be shown is all about politics.
However, AMP said, the video which is going to be shown is not
politic. It is publicly known that, there is ongoing Human Right
Violation in West Papua and it is reality.
AMP wants all the people of Indonesia and especially for the people
of Yogyakarta know about our condition in West Papua. By then, said
Alfrid, one of member of AMP, the poeple of Yogyakarta will not be
surprised again, when we show the video. That is the reason, We’ve been
doing demo but peole don’t know how is the situation in West Papua look
like. That is why we have to get independence.
Eventually, the explantion of the purpose of showing video with the
police officers, AMP was allowed to be shown the video that had been
ready. In this case, one of the member of AMP said, this kind of
prohibition shouldn’t be done in democratic country like Rebublic of
Indonesia.
Like this ( Human Right Violations) should have not happened when we
claimed Indonesia is democratic country. We are allowed because the
police officers in Yogyakarta respect democratic but it is pity that the
police officers of Indonesia in Papua don’t understand, said a member
of AMP.
Thouseands of people gathered and it was crowded.
In fact, thousand of West Papua Students attended. Malioboro was
totally traffic jam. There were not only the students of West Papua but
the people of Yogyakarta, intelligent of Indonesia, police officers and
also other people of Indonesia from West Java, East Java. And there also
were foreigners, from Jerman. The Jermany watched all the show from the
start to the end, one of member of AMP, (YW) explained what’s happening
there. They also asked several question about West Papua and the
history of West Papua and the violation of Indonesia military and police
officers.
They also asked about the demand that was given by AMP because it was written in Indonesia;
- Give freedom and righti to self Determination as democratic solution for West Papuans.
- Draw militery of Indonesia and police, organic and non-organic all over West Papua and stop all the violation toward the people of West Papua by Indonesia.
It was simple, only little spot was empty in the middle. The rally
made a sircle without by themselves. In front of in focus, it is
written, “ Indonesia have to be responsible on Human Rights Violation in
West Papua.
The event was started with rhym of sorrow, to honor and respect for
the freedom fighters who were killed, assinated, tortured by the armed
forces of Indonesia that constantly struggle, even it is very risky and
very price to be payed, beaten, torture, arrestment, and also to death.
All bowed, the song of rhym of Nasional of West Papua, “ Hai Tanahku
Papua, some students seen, the liitle water falling down on their both
side cheecks.
Many cried out after seeing the video
It took for 30 minutes, and it all about reality that is happening in
Papua. The show started with Morning Start Flang, the national flag of
West Papua in the middle of the jungle because we could not raise in our
home.
Seing military forces beaten up the people of West Papua, torture
until they shot and the belly came out, burned beard and burned their
eyes by the fire of cigarrette, all are shown. And also how they treated
the people burned their sex, using hot iron. All corpse which were
shown.
The visitors cried out seeing video and some shook their heads. Some
West Papuan cried. It happend authomatically when they saw the
violations has been done and still doing until this present time. All
the armed forces are curse for the criminal actions to the people of
West Papua.
As we know that, foreign reporter is banned to access in West Papua,
the local also being teror by Indonesia for telling the truth. The video
is only few has been shown but there are more than that, ongoing
violation all over in West Papua. The people of West Papua are treated
no different than animal.There more worst thing that the country of
Indonesia doing to my people but it is known by God and the nature, said
Abbi, member of AMP.

AMP was not alone, Sanggar Traditional united dance, there are
Maluku, Timor ( Flores) and also foreigners, Timore Lester people also
attended to show their grieve for the people of West Papua and the
anniversary of Theys Hiyo Eluay.
Some traditional dance were shown, Tari Lilin from Timor Lester, Tari
from Atambua, Tari from Ambon, Tari from Pangkur sagu from Papua.
The closing were the solidarity of Illalang Zaman, the song was”
Papua, don’t be silent, keep fighting. The audience also sang together.
It was great to see the Javanese also composed song for West papua,
after they understand the truth about West Papua, ongoing injustice,
violation happening in West Papua. Finally, at 11.20, the event ended
with prayer.
