London, -- Tepat pada hari ini -waktu London- pada lima tahun lalu, tanggal 15 Oktober
2008, bertempat di gedung Parlemen Inggris, International Parliamentarians for
West Papua (IPWP) diluncurkan.
Hari ini, Senin (14/10/13) WIB; tanggal 15
Oktober 2013 waktu Inggris, lebih dari 80 anggota Parlemen dan Politisi
telah bergabung dan menandatangani
deklarasi bagi hak penetuan nasib rakyat Papua Barat.
Ini isi deklarasi mereka: "We the undersigned recognise the inalienable
right of the indigenous people of West Papua to self-determination, which was
violated in the 1969 Act of Free Choice, and call upon our governments
through the United Nations to put in place arrangements for the free exercise
of that right.
"So
that the indigenous people of West Papua can decide democratically their own
future in accordance with international standards of human rights, the
principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations."
"Kami yang bertanda tangan ini mengakui hak orang asli Papua Barat untuk menentukan nasib sendiri,
yang dilanggar 1969 melalui Act of Free Choice..." tulis
mereka dalam pernyataan ini.
Juga mereka menulis, "... bahwa orang asli Papua
Barat dapat memutuskan secara
demokratis masa depan mereka sendiri
sesuai dengan standar internasional hak asasi manusia, prinsip-prinsip hukum
internasional dan Piagam PBB." dalam deklarasi mereka.
