ANNOUNCEMENT
By this way we would like to announce that the West Papua National
Parliament (PNWP) has decided that a Papua CULTURAL PARADE will be held,
marking the fact that Papuan culture is part of the Melanesian culture.
The West Papua National Committee (KNPB) has been given the task to
organize the event.
We are holding the PAPUA CULTURAL PARADE event for the following
reasons:
1. To commemorate the New York Agreement of 15 August 1962 and to
declare to the world that this agreement, which was signed by the
Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Indonesian government, did not in any
way guarantee the exercise of the right of self-determination of the
people of West Papua, through a fair and democratic process.
2. To serve as an initial action which will help prepare, in a
preliminary manner, the arrangements for the upcoming Mission of the
Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) to West Papua.
3. At the same time, to welcome the opening of the Office of the
Dutch Section of the Free West Papua Campaign in the Kingdom of the
Netherlands, on 15 August 2013.
This Cultural Parade will be held simultaneously throughout the
country of West Papua on 15 August
2013.
For that we invite the people of West Papua in the villages and in
the towns, to join us in enlivening this West Papuan cultural event
under the following theme: “Our One Demand: Recognition of Our Right to
Self-Determination.”
Sincerely yours,
Buchtar Tabuni
Chairman of the PNWP
